Photograph taken in December 1933 of the "East End Committee" "who were responsible for organising the construction of the new Sanctuary in the East End of St. Matthew's Church at Drayton, which was completed and dedicated on 20/08/1933. The date "August 20th" is very significant in the history of St. Matthew's Church. It was on20/08/1886 that the first Foundation Stone of the new church was laid on the present site. So we are looking forward to the Centenary of this Laying of the Foundation stone which is certain to be held on 20/08/1986 and that is not so far away in the distant future'.
