During the month two vessels have arrived here from the Islands, under the new regulations, with a full complement of recruits, and they report that they have had no difficulty in obtaining them, the boys being anxious to return to Queensland, as is proved by the fact that about one-third of the recruits of one vessel had been here before, whilst the other vessel had nearly one-half. "The Rector of All Saints' has done a really constructive piece of work in the establishment of St. Clare's House of Rest. It began in a small way in a little house in Spring Hill, in which it was possible to receive three old ladies. This afternoon I am to open a large and commodious house in which it will be possible to receive 32. The need for something like this has been great for several years."

On 4th August, 1962 Diocesan Architects, A H Conrad & T B F Gargett, called tenders for the masonry work - exterior and interior stonework for the proposed extensions to St John's Cathedral. Tenderers asked to submit tenders for each of the following alternative methods of extending the Cathedral: 1 - For the erection of the three bays of the nave necessary to complete the main structure of the Cathedral, excluding the vestries, western towers, porches etc. 2 - For the erection of only two more bays of the nave (if this method were adopted, it would be necessary to erect a temporary end wall until the third bay is erected).

The Badge of St. Paul's School, drawn by Mrs. W. C. Milligan, a well-known Brisbane artist, under the direction of a sub-committee of the Diocesan Council, consists of a gold mitre over a red shield. In the shield are the silver crossed swords of St. Paul, surmounted by a golden martyr's crown. Beneath the shield is the motto "Fide et Literis". This is the motto of St. Paul's School, London, and is used by permission obtained through the offices of His Grace the Archbishop of Brisbane.
