Records and Archives Centre - Diocese of Brisbane The Diocese of Brisbane is coterminous with Southern Queensland. Its area is 542,000 sq km, and its population is about three-quarters of the entire population of the State which is estimated at 3.6 million. The members of the Anglican Church of Australia form about 20 per cent of this number. Click here to view a map showing the location of the Diocese within the State of Queensland. The Records and Archives Centre was established in 1979 as the official repository of the records of the Anglican Church within the Diocese of Brisbane. There are more than 140 parishes and 315 churches within the Diocese. By the authority of the Records and Archives Canon (1992), all diocesan and parish records are to be lodged in the Centre.
